Recording
Recording is the first and most important step in creating a skillfully produced CD. While we can drastically enhance a performance by applying advanced editing and mixing techniques, a mediocre recording will never generate the kind of emotional response that an excellent recording will, regardless of the amount of studio wizardry involved.
In order for you to get the best possible signal, three factors are key: The ears of the engineer, the instrument / room interaction and the recording chain (microphone - cable - preamplifier - tape or hard disk). From an artist's perspective, it is crucial that the engineer understand the artist's music, his or her intent, and be flexible and able to accommodate the artist's various visions and preferences for their sound. And since no one operates on unlimited funds, we place a great emphasis on speed and efficiency. Our Macintosh-built Pro Tools HD System allows for the fastest loading and processing times on the market, and lets us quickly adapt our recording technique to your specifications while maintaining a high- quality signal. We can instantly load complex reverbs, eqs, echoes and other effects and let you pick which you like best - and if you're not sure, our engineers can definitely be trusted to make wise choices. And you can see from our studio page that we place great emphasis on all the equipment that goes into the recording chain.
From the moment your session starts, we pay attention to both your well-being and to capturing your sound in the best possible way. Unlike other places, Blink features a friendly room with daylight instead of artificial light, many plants and natural and artificial ventilation. Our studio has high ceilings for excellent acoustics and a very revealing and neutral monitoring system.
Lastly, engineers are known to be equipment geeks and we are, unfortunately, no exception. We spend way too much of our free time researching better microphones, faster computers and performing other dull activities. On-Location Recording
Our on-location setup consists of several high-resolution digital recorders and microphones. Given an appropriate acoustical setting, we are capable of capturing your performance in a highly detailed and convincing way - you will be delighted releasing your performance. Ask us about multi-tracking your performance for a later mixdown, including possible surround mixes.
